Neuroprotective Activities of New Monoterpenoid Indole Alkaloid from Nauclea officinalis

Phytochemical investigation on the bark of Nauclea officinalis led to isolation a new monoterpenoid indole alkaloid, nauclediol. The structure compound was identified through extensive spectroscopic analysis. Nauclediol displayed cholinesterase-inhibitory activities towards AChE and BChE with IC50 values 15.429 8.756 µM, respectively. Statistical analysis revealed that mode inhibition nauclediol non-competitive inhibitor for both BChE. Molecular docking interacts choline-binding site catalytic triad TcAChE hBChE. This study also demonstrated neuroprotective potential against amyloid beta-induced cytotoxicity LPS-induced neuroinflammation activity in dose-dependent manner.
